Headquarters, 102d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 35 (March 24, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Earl F. Adams (ASN: 0-1996654), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 406th Infantry Regiment, 102d Infantry Division, in Germany on 28 February 1945. When his company was halted by withering machine gun fire, Second Lieutenant Adams unhesitatingly crawled across open terrain to a point of vantage from which he eliminated the enemy position with hand grenades. The determination and utter disregard for his personal safety reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
