The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Ben Joseph Fuhrman (AFSN: 0-3137751), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 pilot over North Vietnam on 10 June 1968. On that date, Captain Fuhrman, at great personal risk, attacked and destroyed an active anti-aircraft site which had for some time seriously hampered air operations along a vital logistic and communication route in North Vietnam. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Fuhrman reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
