The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Douglas M. Fain (AFSN: 0-80349), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight over Southeast Asia on 17 October 1968. On that date, Captain Fain superbly accomplished a highly intricate mission to support Free World forces that were combating aggression. His energetic application of his knowledge and skill were significant factors that contributed greatly to furthering United States goals in Southeast Asia. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Fain reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
