The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Stephen Lynn Amdor (AFSN: 0-80213), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 pilot of the 416th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Phu Cat Air Base, South Vietnam, in action near Khe Sanh, Republic of Vietnam, on 14 March 1968. On that date, Lieutenant Amdor was scrambled from alert at Phu Cat Air Base for a night interdiction mission. Confronted with intense hostile ground fire and rugged terrain, Lieutenant Amdor made multiple, low altitude bombing and strafing passes, destroying the target and silencing an anti-aircraft site. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Amdor reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
