The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Commander Stuart Osmond Greig, United States Navy, for distinguished service in the line of his profession as Commanding Officer of the U.S. Submarine K-6, which proceeded from Halifax to Ponta Delgada in October 1917, under its own power, arrived there ready for immediate service and was engaged in the hazardous and exacting duty of patrolling the waters in the vicinity of Azores until the Armistice.
