(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Technician Fifth Grade Arthur W. Owens, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy, while serving with the 12th Armored Division, on 23 March 1945 in Germany. On that date, Technician Fifth Grade Owens’ tank was hit by an anti-tank shell. After evacuating the tank, he discovered that two of his crew were still in the tank. Although the anti-tank-gun continued to fire at the tank, he made two trips back to the tank, each time pulling one of the injured crew to safety.
