The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant David M. Miura (ASN: 30103607), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 100th Infantry Battalion, 442d Regimental Combat Team, 92d Infantry Division, in action on 6 April 1945, in Italy. In securing three objectives during the day, Staff Sergeant Miura displayed courage, aggressiveness, and superior leadership. Without a thought of personal safety in leading his squad, he charged from one enemy dugout to another. Staff Sergeant Miura was directly responsible for taking eleven prisoners and made it possible for his company to gain its objectives. His gallant action was an inspiration to his comrades and reflects honor upon the United States Army.
