The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private Frank W. Lohnes, United States Army, for gallantry in defending Government property against Indians on 12 May 1865, while serving with Company H, 1st Nebraska Veteran Cavalry, in action at Gilmans Ranch, Nebraska.
