The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class LeRoy J. Bryson (ASN: 32598157), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 376th Infantry Regiment, 94th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Germany, from 14 January 1945 to 28 January 1945. In all operations against the enemy, Private First Class Bryson proved himself to be an outstanding soldier. On one occasion, despite heavy artillery, mortar, and small arms fire, he dashed over a fire-swept street, entered an enemy-occupied house, and disposed of seven Germans who were holding up his company’s advance. Private First Class Bryson’s dauntless tenacity and unflinching devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States.
