The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to First Lieutenant Jimmy G. White (AFSN: FR-75463), United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life near Box Elder, South Dakota, on 16 November 1965. On that date, Lieutenant White arrived on the scene of an automobile accident which seriously injured the driver of the vehicle and five other passengers. Lieutenant White did, without hesitation and regard for his own safety, enter the burning vehicle to pull out the injured and assist in moving them from the scene. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by Lieutenant White reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
