The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Albert Sebosky (ASN: 36396668), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, in action on 2 February 1945, near ****, Germany. As his light machine gun section moved forward to give close support to the Infantry during an attack, the tremendous superiority of enemy automatic weapons fire from concrete pillboxes threatened to pin the section down. Private First Class Sebosky, with no thought for his personal safety, exposed himself recklessly as he moved from man to man, helping and urging them forward. Maintaining accurate murderous fire behind the assaulting infantrymen until his gun burned out, Private First Class Sebosky leaped to his feet, yelled “Let’s go,” and led his squad in the final assault with the riflemen on the pillboxes. Private First Class Sebosky was killed only ten yards from the enemy positions. His aggressive courage was the decisive factor in the successful attack and in keeping with the highest traditions of the Airborne Forces.
