The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Dental Corps) Leno C. Odorizzi, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as a Dental Officer with the 513th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne Division, in action against an enemy of the United States. Captain Odorizzi assumed the duties of Regimental Surgeon on 3 January 1945. During the action around Mande St. Etienne, Belgium, he worked tirelessly to evacuate wounded from the aid stations. Casualties were heavy and his task was most difficult. Captain Odorizzi, acting with complete disregard for his own personal safety repeatedly passed over terrain subjected to direct enemy machine gun and artillery fire. His heroic discharge of duty was in accordance with the highest standards of military service.
