The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Airman First Class David L. Brookman (AFSN: AF-11422492), United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life near Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, on 12 November 1965. On that date, while returning to Minot Air Force Base, from a Missile Site, Golf One, another vehicle crashed and rolled over on its roof. With complete disregard for his own safety, Airman Brookman, despite the hazards of leaking gasoline and fumes, unhesitatingly entering the wreckage and succeeded in removing four persons to a place of safety. By his courageous action and humanitarian regard for his fellow man, Airman Brookman has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
