    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Private First Class Jesus A. Cervantes (ASN: 39289673), United States Army, for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy while serving with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, on 3 August 1945, near ****, France. At about 1900 hours, Private First Class Cervantes, a jeep driver, was approaching a bridge over the Moselle River which was under repair. As he neared the bridge, he observed a wagon which was crossing the bridge fall into the river. Private First Class Cervantes immediately stopped his vehicle and without removing any of his clothing or heavy boots, plunged into the river in an effort to save the four small children and an elderly man.
