The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Francis L. Eisemann (ASN: 36065865), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company I, 3d Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, in action on 6 April 1945, at *****, Germany. On outpost duty and subjected to strong forward elements of an enemy attack, Private First Class Eisemann withdrew to his platoon positions. Later his platoon was outnumbered and overrun. He and one other man were the only surviving members. The same night he voluntarily led Company I to relieve pressure on Company A. In this action he killed three enemy and wounded others. On the night of 7 April 1945 he voluntarily led a rescue patrol to men trapped behind enemy lines. The rescue party was attacked and he was seriously wounded. The courage, initiative and devotion to duty of Private First Class Eisemann are in keeping with the highest traditions of the Airborne Forces.
