The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Technician Fifth Grade Theodore Cabali (ASN: 34150914), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Battery, 456th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, 82d Airborne Division, in action on July 10, 1943, about three-quarters of a mile west of ****. Technician Fifth Grade Cabali, along with two men from Headquarters Battery, and while separated from theirtheir own forces, did attack an enemy pill box. They fired on a patrol of four soldiers which had come from the pill box, and killed two of them. The remaining two enemy soldiers were reinforced by about 35 Germans and Italians from the pill box. Without thought of retreat or of the odds against them, Technician Fifth Grade Cabali and his two companions fought the enemy for four hours and decisively defeated them, killing an estimated 20 to 25 soldiers. In this action Technician Fifth Grade Cabali lost his life, having displayed those qualities of courage and devotion to duty which reflect credit to himself and his country.
