The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Staff Sergeant Shane A. Sapp, United States Army, for valorous achievement on 3 – 4 November 2010 while serving as a Squad Leader during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan. Staff Sergeant Sapp was solely responsible for Third Platoon reaching the Route Clearance Package location, resulting in the Rout Clearance Package being able to safely move back to Highway ONE after 48 hours and multiple improvised explosive device strikes. His actions reflect great credit upon himself, the Regional Command-South, and the United States Army.
