The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant George M. Bellerose, United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 23d Infantry Divison (Americal), during World War II. (Beginning of Citation missing) Moving to the forward position of the original perimeter, he crawled forward, with another man, in an attempt to locate the missing soldier. When his assistant also became wounded, Sergeant Bellerose continued on alone in his original quest, and, when finding the missing man to be wounded, dragged him back to safety.
