(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Brigadier General Raymond Eccleston Serveira Williamson, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Deputy Commanding General of the 91st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in the vicinity of Vede-Lago, Italy, on 22 June 1945. When an enemy strong point held up forward Infantry elements of his Division, Brigadier General Williamson went forward through machine gun and small arms fire to determine the best method of meeting the situation. He called for tanks and personally directed mortar fire and promptly routed the enemy force. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Brigadier General Williamson, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
