The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant (Corps of Engineers) Frank J. Tursi (ASN: 32859640), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the *** Engineer Combat Battalion, XII Corps, in action against an armed enemy on 7 December 1944, in Germany. When all members of his squad were wounded by enemy fire while recovering a section of footbridge on the Saar River at Lisdorf, Germany, Sergeant Tursi braved the devastating enemy fire time after time to evacuate all wounded men and undoubtedly save many of their lives. The actions of Sergeant Tursi reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
