The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private George F. Thompson, United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 2d Division, A.E.F., in the Retz Forest, France. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled: That the President is authorized to present, in the name of Congress, a Distinguished Service Cross to George F. Thompson, of the United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous bravery while serving as a private in the Marine Corps on the morning of 18 July 1918, at the forest of Retz.
