The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Robert E. Talbert (ASN: 35875702), United States Army, for gallantry in action while swerving with Company C, 178th Infantry Regiment, III Corps, in action against the enemy on 7 January 1945, at *****, Belgium. Private First Class Talbert, during an intense enemy artillery shelling, voluntarily and with disregard for his own safety, sought aid for a member of his company who had suffered a serious wound from shell fragments. In the courageous and successful performance of his hazardous task he was wounded. The cool and unselfish manner in which P{one Talbert conducted himself reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
