(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Major (Field Artillery) Daniel Rogers (ASN: 0-293291), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the *** Field Artillery Group, XII Corps, in action against an armed enemy on 30 November 1944, in France. As Counter-Battery Officer, Major Rogers, with utter disregard for his own safety and while shells were falling near his position, measured craters to obtain shelling reports. These reports helped pinpoint he locations of enemy batteries in order to deliver extremely effective counter-battery fire. The courage of Major Rogers reflected the highest credit upon his character as an Officer and upon the Armed Forces of the United States.
