The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Technician Fifth Grade Aaron Woodrow Perry (ASN: 35253983), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters, XII Corps, in action on numerous occasions during the period February 1943 to October 19443 in Africa, Sicily, and France. Upon occasion after occasion in direct action against the enemy Technician Fifth Grade Perry exhibited a remarkable degree of personal courage and devotion to duty with little regard for his own safety and comfort. Accompanying the commander of the *** Infantry Division into areas often under intense enemy artillery and small arms fire, he performed his duties with coolness and bravery that attracted frequent commendations from commanders in his vicinity. On several occasions, where a less courageous driver would have faltered, he drove his vehicles forward into front-line attacking troops where all but he were dismounted and under cover, and on other occasions, where the situation required, he drove through areas under enemy observation and machine gun fire. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Corps of Military Police, and the United States Army.
