    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Ralph Osler (ASN: 20304496), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the *** Field Artillery Battalion, XII Corps, in action against an armed enemy on 11 December 1944, in France. Technician Fifth Grade Osler was a member of a Sound Ranging Platoon who had setter out to equip and establish an Observation Post. En route to the site selected Technician Fifth Grade Osler Assisted in the clearing of two hasty mine fields. Upon reaching the Observation Post the parity was informed that there were several casualties at the foot of the hill who were lying unattended for almost 3 1/2 hours. Technician Fifth Grade Osler, disregarding his personal safety, proceeded under heavy enemy artillery and mortar fire to the spot where the wounded men were lying. He assisted in administering first aid and in the evacuation of the wounded men. Throughout the evacuation he was under constant enemy artillery and mortar fire. The outstanding courage and utter disregard for personal safety displayed by Technician Fifth Grade Osler reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
