Headquarters, XII Corps, General Orders No. 24 (March 27, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Lindsay Logan, Jr. (ASN: 31357701), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the *** Engineer Combat Battalion, XII Corps, in action against an armed enemy from 15 November 1944 to 1 December 1944, in France. During the attack on the village of Nancourt, France, Sergeant Logan proved himself a highly efficient and gallant soldier. He helped to successfully sweep the road of mines from Concourt, France to Moncourt, France, fully exposing himself in a tremendous amount of enemy fire. He also crawled through a murderous barrage of mortar fire and dragged three wounded enlisted men and one officer to a point of cover where they could be given first aid and removed from the field of battle. Sergeant Logan’s devotion to duty and utter disregard for personal safety reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
