Headquarters, SIXTH U.S. Army, General Orders No. 17, (1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Kiyoshi Kay Kishimoto (ASN: 39006744), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company L, 442d Regimental Combat Team, in action against the enemy in the vicinity of La Houssiere, France on 1 November 1944. When his platoon was pinned down by an enemy machine gun supported by four riflemen, Private First Class Kishimoto and a comrade crawled to a point within 20 yards of the enemy position. Exposing themselves in order to fire effectively at the emplacement, Private Kishimoto and his comrade killed the gunner and silenced the machine gun, allowing their platoon to advance. When the four supporting riflemen attempted to escape they opened fire on them, killing all four. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
