The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to First Lieutenant Herbert S. Keimling (MCSN: 0-498), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism, coolness and excellent judgment in the performance of duty in an engagement at Telpaneca, Nicaragua, on 19 September 1927, and again by his conspicuous gallantry during subsequent engagements at Matanaza, La Cruz and Laguna. Lieutenant Keimling throughout displayed that high type of courage and skill which characterizes conduct above and beyond the call of duty.
