The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Trenouth L. Johnson (ASN: 39282689), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the Medical Detachment, *** Anti-Aircraft Artillery (AW) Battalion, XII Corps, in action against an armed enemy on 14 March 1945, in Germany. At approximately 1430 hours a man ran to the Command Post of the 1st Platoon of Battery A, in Erdorf, Germany. Informing those present that two men were wounded in a nearby mined area. Technician Fifth Grade Johnson proceeded to the mined area where they heard cries for help and knowing that the area contained mines he proceeded with utter disregard for his personal safety to the wounded men and rendered first aid to the more seriously wounded man. Then with the aid of Technician Fifth Grade Cascarino and Private First Class Kovak they evacuated the wounded man to a medical aid statin. The utter disregard for personal safety displayed by Technician Fifth Grade Johnson reflects great credit upon himself and upholds the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
