The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Dyke G. Hill (ASN: 34500531), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the *** Field Artillery Group, XII Corps, in action against the enemy on 24 September 1944, in France. When enemy artillery shelled his Command Post, Technician Fifth Grade Hill remained at his switchboard after directing his assistants to go to a place of safety. Despite the continued shelling he managed communications so that the massed fires of our artillery could be brought down on the enemy. The courage and devotion to duty of Technician Fifth Grade Hill reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
