The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain Eulogio Guiriba, Philippine Army, for gallantry in action at Luzon, Philippine Islands, from 8 October 1943 to 25 January 1944. During the period cited, Captain Guiriba repeatedly risked his life to carry important intelligence documents through heavily garrisoned enemy-held territory and to organize intelligence nets for the collection of data for submission to higher headquarters. Although he knew that detection by the enemy would result in torture and execution, Captain Guiriba fearlessly continued his perilous missions with notable success. Through his intrepidity and skill as an agent, Captain Guiriba contributed materially to the early liberation of the Philippines.
