The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Frank Frederick Geiger (MCSN: 92522), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the Ninety-Fifth Company, Sixth Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F., in action in the Forest of Argonne, France, 1 November 1918. Sergeant Geiger displayed great coolness and courage in leading his section against machine-gun positions. He was later severely wounded while rushing a machine-gun nest unaided.
