The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Corporal Stephen J. Dulik (ASN: 35522424), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the 945th Field Artillery Battalion, XII Corps, in action against an armed enemy on 13 April 1945, in Germany. On 13 April 1945 near Kulmbach, Germany, while observing from an unarmed liaison plane on reconnaissance in front of an armored column, Corporal Dulik’s courageous devotion to duty and aggressiveness carried him 12,000 meters into enemy territory. When his plane was attacked by two enemy fighter planes, Corporal Dulik was killed. His outstanding heroism and complete disregard for his own safety to accomplish his mission efficiently, reflects great credit upon himself and upholds the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
