The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private Raymond E. Davidson (ASN: 6991084), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the *** Infantry Regiment, II Corps, in action against the enemy. On ** February 1943, at ******, Private Davidson after volunteering to investigate enemy positions, moved under heavy enemy 20-mm and machine gun fire to within 100 yards of the enemy lines and returned with the information he sought. On his way back, and while still under heavy fire, he aided in carrying a wounded soldier to a point where medical aid could reach him. Private Davidson’s devotion to duty and his courage are an inspiration and a credit to the armed forces of the United States.
