The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel (Corps of Engineers) John C. Dalrymple, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from 9 to 29 March 1945. (This award supersedes the award of the Bronze Star Medal (Second Oak Leaf Cluster) to Lieutenant Colonel Dalrymple, for service during the same period, published in General Orders 178, Headquarters, 9th United States Army, 28 May 1945.)
