The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Mess Sergeant Alphonse Carbone (MCSN: 208153), United States Marine Corps, for distinguished service in the line of his profession with the Byrd Antarctic Expedition II (1933 – 35). Through his efficient and conscientious performance of duty, Sergeant Carbone contributed greatly to the success of the Expedition.
