Levine (ASN: US-51662655), United States Army, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an armed hostile force in the Republic of’ Vietnam Specialist Four Levine distinguished himself by valorous actions on the evening of 23 December 1967 while serving as a Light Vehicle Driver with Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3d Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, at Camp Blackhorse, Vietnam. A sudden explosion in a fuel truck set the vehicle and the drivers clothing on fire. Rushing to the scene, Specialist Levine overtook the running man, brought him to the ground and smothered the flames with his body.
