The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Colonel James C. Breckenridge (MCSN: 0-105), United States Marine Corps, for distinguished service in the line of his profession as Naval AttachŽ to the American Legations at Christiania and Stockholm, Sweden, and for a time also at Copenhagen during the period from April 1916 until August 1917. At all of these points the service of information established and conducted was of great value to the United States and the Allied Powers.
