The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant [then Staff Sergeant] Stanley E. Davis (ASN: 0-2016291), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 21st Tank Battalion, 10th Armored Division, in action at Obereisheim, Germany, on 3 April 1945. Braving intense enemy direct anti-tank fire, Second Lieutenant Davis, then serving as platoon sergeant, courageously engaged the enemy with machine gun fire, permitting the evacuation of a wounded tank commander. His gallant achievement reflects credit upon himself and the military forces of the United States.
