The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Colonel Elias R. Beadle (MCSN: 0-59), United States Marine Corps, for distinguished service in the line of his profession as Chief of the Guardia National of Nicaragua from 11 July 1927 to 14 March 1929. During this period Lieutenant Colonel Beadle conducted the organization and training of the Guardia with marked skill and sound judgment. The newly organized forces took part in the engagements at Cootal, Telpaneca, Zapotillal and by their efficiency in action demonstrated that Lieutenant Colonel Beadle had successfully accomplished his mission. He distinguished himself by his wise guidance and co-ordination of the activities of the Guardia during the Presidential Election in November 1928.
