The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private Milton Miller (ASN: 33732582), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 35th Infantry Division, in action near ****, Belgium, on 4 and 5 January 1945. When his unit was completely cut off from friendly troops in an area subjected to a hail of enemy fire, Private Miller, an Aid Man attached to Company G, 2d Battalion, 134th Infantry Regiment, ceaselessly moved among the men, rendering medical aid, checking individual foxholes, and comforting the wounded. Although he was himself ill and his feet were frozen, he continued his efforts with utter disregard for his safety or comfort until he had to be virtually carried away. His inspiring courage and devotion to wounded comrades are in accord with the best traditions of the Army Medical Department.
