The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Sergeant First Class David L. Blaylock (ASN: US-53013491), United States Army, for heroic achievement on 2 June 1951 in the vicinity of Inje, Korea. On that day Sergeant Blaylock’s company was attacking a hill against a well-entrenched and camouflaged enemy. As Sergeant Blaylock’s squad moved into the attack under intense enemy fire, an automatic rifleman was wounded. Without regard to the intense enemy fire, Sergeant Blaylock administered first aid to the man while shielding him with his own body. He then assisted his comrade to a position of safety and returned to complete his mission. Moving from bunker to bunker, Sergeant Blaylock routed several enemy soldiers, thereby enabling his squad to move forward and seize its objective. The heroism and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Blaylock reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
