The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Sergeant Craig W. Davis, United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life at the Tonopah Electronic Warfare Range, Operations and Maintenance Complex, Tonopah, Nevada, on 4 April 1981. On that date, Sergeant Davis rushed to the aid of a fellow crew member whose upper body was engulfed in flames. His calm leadership under extreme stress was directly responsible for saving the life and lessening the injuries of a fellow airman. By his courageous action and humanitarian regard for his fellowman, Sergeant Davis has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
