Headquarters, 2d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 575 (October 6, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Louis H. Brodur (ASN: US-56074795), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 31 August 1951 in the vicinity of Taeusan, Korea. On that date, as Company A was attacking a well-entrenched and heavily armed enemy, the unit was pinned down by intense enemy fire. Private Brodur spotted the machine gun emplacement which was keeping his squad pinned down. With complete disregard for his own safety, he advanced toward the machine gun position with grenades and rifle. He succeeded in destroying the enemy positions inflicting numerous casualties and causing the remainder to flee. After securing this objective and while moving into position for the final phase of the attack, Private Brodur was fatally wounded by enemy grenade fire. The gallantry in action displayed by Private Brodur reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
