Headquarters, 2d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 580 (October 7, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Corporal Dennis Brock (ASN: RA-14357199), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 1 September 1951 in the vicinity of Taeusan, Korea. On that date during the attack on an enemy-held hill, Corporal Brock, a platoon messenger, relayed vital messages to the various leaders of the company. Although constantly under heavy enemy mortar and automatic weapons fire, he never faltered in his assigned duties. In addition to his assigned duties, Corporal Brock supplied the mortar section with ammunition whenever needed. Corporal Brock continued in this manner until he was fatally wounded by an enemy round while evacuating a seriously wounded man. The gallantry and devotion to duty displayed by Corporal Brock reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
