    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Captain (Air Corps) George Frederick Bruck, Jr., United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as lead pilot of group and squadron formations on heavy bombardment missions against the enemy. Captain Bruck, demonstrating exceptional piloting ability, led combat formations on successful attacks against Cologne, Germany, 14 October 1944; Darmstadt, Germany, 12 December 1944; and Homburg, Germany, 14 October 1944, despite adverse weather conditions and anti-aircraft fire on each occasion. The high degree of flying skill and courageous devotion to duty displayed by Captain Bruck on these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
