The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Glenn Everett Wasson (AFSN: FR-21904), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an O-1 Forward Air Controller in Southeast Asia on 27 June 1967. On that date, Major Wasson flew a search and destroy mission. With ceilings low and visibility poor, Major Wasson was forced to search at treetop level in an extremely hostile environment. After finding the positions, the outstanding airmanship demonstrated by Major Wasson enabled tactical airpower to destroy the positions despite heavy hostile fire directed at both the fighters and Major Wasson. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Wasson reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
