    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Frank R. Stanfield (ASN: 0-1323495), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with a Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, in action against the enemy in the vicinity of Noville, Belgium, on 20 December 1944. The enemy was making a determined attack with a large number of guns, assault troops and self-propelled guns supported by infantry. Due to the heavy shelling it was extremely difficult to keep the men from the various units at their posts. First Lieutenant Stanfield, without regard for his personal safety, was constantly checking the strongpoints and sending men to cover the threatened positions. (Remainder of citation missing.
