The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Sergeant Everett W. Anderson, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 14 January 1864, while serving with Company M, 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry, in action at Crosby’s Creek, Tennessee. Sergeant Anderson captured, single-handed, Confederate Brigadier General Robert B. Vance during a charge upon the enemy.
