No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Andres Vavasis (ASN: 2264821), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Vavasis distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company T, 363d Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Waereghem, Belgium, in capturing, with one comrade, a 77-mm. German Field Piece, four horses and eight prisoners, under heavy enemy fire, on 31 October 1918.
